Spend some relaxing time staying at our historic building on the Mississippi River in Hampton, Illinois. We have a spacious deck facing the river for that morning coffee with a Tiki bar for those afternoon and evening cocktails with beautiful sunsets. Fish off the pier. Bring your boat, kayak, canoe or jet-ski (there is a boat ramp a mile away) and spend the day on the river or at the sand bar beach a mile and a half downstream. Bring your bicycles because The Great River Trail bike path is literally right out the front door. There is a beautiful 33 acre park about 7 blocks south with an 18 hole Frisbee golf course. Illiniwek Park is just a half mile away with nature/hiking trails. As part of the Greater Quad Cities, Moline, Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf are only a few minutes away. Just 4 miles from I-80 and 14 minutes from TPC at Deere Run golf course. Winters are nice here too. Bald eagles are usually the most active during January and February. This is a duplex (up and down) and we live on the top floor, so we are on site. This is a quiet neighborhood with limited parking, so parties/gatherings need to be low key. If you are here visiting friends or family and want to have a few people over that’s fine. Rentals are only for the registered guests to stay though.

This large timberframe home is an ideal country getaway in a private peaceful location (surrounded by 120 acres of woods, valley, grass, and farm ground). On this part of the river, Pool 13, there are many inlets for boating and kayaking. The area is known for its fishing tournaments. There is a public boat launch 1 mile up the road, and there is a local place to rent boats. The wildlife and spectacular sunsets offer many outstanding photographic opportunities. The Thomson area is on the Northern Illinois Wine Trail, and it features many wineries with tasting rooms. There are many antique shops and quilting shops nearby. You can also enjoy the local orchards and live summer theater. Nearby are the Palisades State Park, the Ingersol Nature Center, the Thomson Causeway, and Eagle Point Park. Thomson is on the Illinois Bike Trail, and bikes can be rented in town. The River House is a 1000 sq. ft. one story ranch house, and it sleeps 6 with 4 beds. The house has 2 bedrooms, plus an entryway room with a queen size hide-a-bed. The master bedroom has a queen bed, and the second bedroom has two twin beds. An inflatable twin bed is also available. There are 2 full bathrooms. The house has a complete kitchen, central air, a washer and dryer., and internet and cable. In the winter a gas fireplace is available. Outside there is an eating area on the wrap-around deck and a fire pit in the back yard for campfires. A gas barbecue grill is also available. The River House is 2 1/2 hours from Chicago and Madison, Wisconsin, and 1 hour from Dubuque, IA and the wonderful National Mississippi River Museum. It is a 45 minute drive to Galena for sightseeing, shopping, and good restaurants. In Galena, Cascade Mountain offers downhill skiing and snowboarding. It is also a 45 minute drive to the Quad Cities, a large metropolitan area that features wonderful museums, including the Putnam, the Figge Art Museum, and John Deere. The house was built last year and myself and my family only use it a few months out of the year for business purposes. This is a very good spot for business travelers, family vacation on the golf course and/or the Mississippi river. It does have a long driveway and can accommodate boats and/or trailers. It has an outdoor fire pit with a patio facing the golf course. The house has a master bedroom master bath with king size bed and office, One other room has a Queen size bed with TV and accommodations, The other bedroom has a full size bunk bed as well as a crib for a toddler. We have all cooking utensils eating dinner wear glasses and so forth, In the full basement area is a ping pong table as well as a hockey table, There a spare chairs downstairs for the large eating table.
